About Inspiration4
Inspiration4 marked the world’s first all-civilian mission to orbit. The mission was commanded by Jared Isaacman, the then-38-year-old founder and Chief Executive Officer of Shift4 Payments and an accomplished pilot and adventurer. Inspiration4 departed Earth from Kennedy Space Center’s historic Launch Complex 39A, the embarkation point for Apollo and Space Shuttle missions, and traveled across a low-Earth orbit on a three-day journey that eclipsed more than 90% of Earth’s population. Named in recognition of the four-person crew that raised awareness and over $240 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, this milestone represented a new era for human spaceflight and exploration.

Dragon Spacecraft
SENDING HUMANS AND CARGO INTO SPACE
The Dragon spacecraft is capable of carrying up to 7 passengers to and from Earth orbit, and beyond. It is the only spacecraft currently flying that is capable of returning significant amounts of cargo to Earth, and is the first private spacecraft to take humans to the space station.

Falcon 9
FIRST ORBITAL CLASS ROCKET CAPABLE OF REFLIGHT
Falcon 9 is a reusable, two-stage rocket designed and manufactured by SpaceX for the reliable and safe transport of people and payloads into Earth orbit and beyond. Falcon 9 is the world’s first orbital class reusable rocket. Reusability allows SpaceX to refly the most expensive parts of the rocket, which in turn drives down the cost of space access.

Cargo
Traveling weightless at over 17,000 miles per hour, the crew conducted experiments designed to expand our knowledge of the universe. Crew Dragon’s 365lbs cargo capacity was allocated for both crew essentials as well as scientific equipment dedicated to micro-gravity research and experimentation. Inspiration4 assigned the maximum possible mass towards this valuable research, providing access to space for inspiring projects that are otherwise unable to overcome the high barriers of traditional space-based research.
